"I hope you are happy, but don't be happier"-Olivia Rodrigo, Sour
The biggest pop sensation over the past year has been someone who has been a Disney Channel star since 2016. And now she can add so much more to her entertainment resume. Most recently, she has been awarded 3 Grammys! (Best New Artist, Best Pop Vocal Album for Sour, Best Pop Solo Performance for Drivers License.) And now, we can add one more thing to her list of accomplishments…movie star. We are talking about Olivia Rodrigo.
On March 25th, Disney Plus released the music documentary driving home 2 U, the story of how Rodrigo’s sour album came to be. It takes the viewer on the path Olivia took to get from Utah to California as she created the album. This music documentary takes a journey with the songs off of the album giving us new arrangements and new styles.
A little information on Sour itself. The album was produced by Dan Nigro. The album was released on May 21st, 2021. This album has not even been out for a full year yet and it is already breaking awarding Olivia with many new accomplishments. There are 11 songs on the track list including the singles Drivers license, Deja Vu, and Good 4 U.
This documentary is amazing! If you are a fan of music or a fan of Olivia Rodrigo, this film takes you through the mind of Rodrigo as she pens her first album. She gives context onto each song and explains her emotions behind them.
After watching driving home 2 U, I have a deep found appreciation for Sour because of the information and story Olivia shares with us in each song. I highly recommend this for someone who loves music!
