Who wants a firework show with a chance of people comparing it to others? Not me. The reason why I say this is because I was on Twitter the morning of October 1st and I saw people comparing the new Disney nighttime spectacular Disney’s Enchantment with the previous shows Happily Ever After and Wishes. The point of a new show is to enjoy something fresh without having any judgement. Disney Parks streamed the new show on their YouTube page and all I can say is, it is amazing! I will get more into my thoughts a bit later.
The story of enchantment follows the story of one’s own self and sense of being. Everyone has their own talents in their own specific ways, like being able to be a broadcaster or to even being a scientist. Everyone has these unique skills inside of them that creates who they are as a person. That is the story behind Disney’s Enchantment. Mark Renfrow, Disney Live Entertainment Show Director for Disney’s Enchantment discusses the story behind the new show. He says “I hope everyone takes away the heart of the story. That we all have a unique magic inside. And the secret to the magic of dreams come true relies within you.”
This spectacular is roughly 15 minutes long with music choices showcasing the history of Disney. A good number of songs from this film matches with rides in the park and movies. One of the rides that is shown during the spectacular was Peter Pan’s Flight. There was even a Toy Story scene as well. In the middle of the projections, there was a dark ominous red on the castle. I think this show features element of darkness that is showing the realness of our current situation. Everyone is battling something inside of them. I believe this part of the show features an effect inside of all of us where we can look deep inside of us and find the magic from within. It is a way to move this darkness into a light where we find the positives.
There are so many mixed reviews with more negatives than positives about the new nighttime spectacular. There is even a petition going around to get the new firework show replaced with the former show Happily Ever After. Now one thing I will say is that Happily Ever After has a special place in my heart, but I am always ready for the future. I had to watch the new show from a couple of different videos. I watched the first show on The DIS (Disney Information System). The DIS showed the show from the hub on Main Street and only showed the castle. However, I would say in order to best see the show one must be on Main Street to see projections on the buildings. Kyle Pallo is a popular YouTube who showcases this view on his channel.
Before anyone can react to this spectacular, I recommend either seeing it in person, or if you are going to stream it, stream it from 2 different angles, from the hub near the castle AND from Main street. Both with great views and each view will give you a different perspective on the show!
If you are interested in streaming it, use this link from The DIS OR from Kyle Pallo (Kyles’s video is an actual vlog, but you can start the show at 12:19. He does not have the full show, but the idea of what is going on is there)
