To Infinity...& Beyond
When it comes to the Toy Story franchise. There are some toys that we do not know about that were introduced in the film. Two of the most iconic... Buzz Lightyear and Sheriff Woody. We got a brand-new film in the Toy Story franchise this year with Lightyear and this film is an origin story for Buzz Lightyear. The movie opens by explaining where the toy Buzz Lightyear...which was a popular movie.
Disney Pixar’s Lightyear follows Captain Buzz on his journey to get home from being marooned on another planet. This film is an amazing way to introduce new friends. Along the way, we get to meet characters who will play a huge part in Buzz’s own character development like Alicia, Izzy, and Sox. At the beginning of the movie, we get the iconic star date update.
Now here is my quick take. I saw Lightyear first, then read a bunch of the reviews. A lot of the reviews I read were negative, however, I would counter those by saying this was a great movie. In my opinion, I believe a lot of people watch films in a franchise and judge based on previous movies, but in order to get a good understanding, we need to remove all of our goggles to really get the idea.
Lightyear has great comedy and great storytelling. One of the biggest themes in the film is learning how to open up to other people in your life. That is what Buzz had to learn throughout the plot.
