Our trip started off in the most magical way possible. The first day we went to Magic Kingdom! Before we got to the park, I oversaw the coffee run. During my walk to the Riverside Mill for the coffees, I embraced the sight of what would be our home for the week.
The whole theme of Port Orleans is that you are in different parts of New Orleans. One side (French Quarter) is more of the style of Bourbon Street and Mardi Gras, and the other side (Riverside) gives you more of either a backwoods or mansion style. My group stayed on the Bayou side of the resort but let me just say the room was beautiful.
Now we are on the way to Disney’s “Most Magical Celebration”. We hopped on the bus, and as we went past the Magic Kingdom sign, One of the monorails heading around the track had the 50th Anniversary Wrap around the front and back of the train.
As we go through security, a sensation starts to stir that I have not felt for about 6 months. A feeling of being at ease and not worrying about anything in the outside world. I scan my new 50th-anniversary magic band and go under the train station. We turn around and we see Mickey and Friends on top of the train station. Afterward, we turn the corner and see Cinderella’s Castle in the distance. From there I pause…I am home.
One of the biggest things during our trip is we had a whole bunch of reservations. Our first reservation was at Chef Mickey’s at the Contemporary Resort. We killed time before taking the Monorail to our next destination, so we were deciding on what to do in the time being. Our first ride of the trip was Carousel as Progress. After Carousel of Progress, we headed over to the Monorail where I heard one of my favorite sayings:
“Please Stand Clear of the Doors…Por favor, mantengase alejado de las puertas.”
I have never been to Chef Mickeys, so I did not know what to expect when going into our Brunch reservation. However, after enjoying the scenery and characters, I understood. This beautiful sit-down dining at the Contemporary Resort features a family-style Buffet where the Cast Members bring out the dishes. During our dining, the character would be coming around to the tables (socially distant of course) and they would do something with us at the tables.
When we returned to the park it was around 1:30 and we started to head towards Adventureland to go do Pirates. I never tried the Spring Rolls before, so I made sure I tried them while we were passing by. I tried both the Cheeseburger Spring Roll and the 50th Anniversary Spring Roll which was a pastrami and pepper jack Spring Roll. They were delicious!
After Pirates of the Caribbean, Chelsea and I went off and watched the 50th Parade while Lauren and Nyx went to ride Haunted Mansion. I love seeing the Fab 5 in their Earidescent outfits. The music for this parade is labeled “The Magic is Calling” and its saying you are here again and we are excited to see you! After the parade, Chelsea and I grabbed probably one of my favorite snacks…Dole Whip. I will say there was a long mobile order for dole whips….it took like an extra 30 minutes to an hour to get ours.
The current time is 6:45. While we were in the Emporium, Nyx called me and said, “There is something going on with the castle. I thought Beacons of Magic started at 7. I was wrong at the time.😂 So I might have missed seeing the Castle light-up right at 6:45, however, she is such a beautiful beacon!
Then I saw the Enchantment firework show in person and let me just say…I am a little emotional. The music, the fireworks, and the projections together made some beautiful magic. I am going to create a blog just on Enchantment. But the best thing about the show is the theme…You are the Magic! (Recommendation…Watch the firework show from Main Street USA. You get to see the projections going down the buildings.
Finally, we ended the night over at Disney Springs for our second dinner reservation…Raglan Road. People have been telling me to go there for the longest time and I finally understand the hype. My dinner consisted of trying the Bangers n’ Mash. But the thing that brought the night together was the live culture of the restaurant. Every 20 minutes we were there, there was either live music or Irish dancing and it was a great night to enjoy it! ( I have another blog planned out and it will include my top 10 restaurants at Disney World!)
After this, we took the bus back to Riverside and enjoyed the rest of our night unwinding from the fun and enjoyment of our first full day.
50th Anniversary Fab 50 Statues
I might have missed a lot of the Fab 50 statues, but I grabbed as many as we could!
