Happy New Year Everyone! There has been many ups and downs but the best thing is that Disney Plus gave us so many new shows and movies. We are now in Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe with new shows and movies that came out in 2021. I am here to bring you my Top 5 new content for Marvel movies and shows. Now there are some shows and movies I did not watch so my weighing will be different from others.

5. Falcon and the Winter Soldier
James “Bucky” Barnes and Sam Wilson come together for their own series as they both go through their trials and errors. Bucky is going through remembrance of being a brainwashed assassin and Sam is going through his time trying to pick up the mantle as the new Captain America. There are a few new characters who make their debut such as John Walker (I do not like John Walker…he gave me Frat Boy energy). This series takes the spot of 5 because there is a good story, but the show started a little slow. It took a little bit to pick up the pace, but the show was entertaining to watch.
4. Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings
Shang Chi follows a young man who left his life of being the son of the Ten Rings leader to live in San Francisco. In San Francisco, he meets his friend Katy. A situation brings him back to the Ten Ring compound with Katy and his sister in tow. We can see where Shang’s life began and see flashbacks of time with his mother who was murdered because of his father’s death. This movie had great storytelling and brought some new characters to life. One of the actresses who did a great job was Awkwafina. Anyone who joins the Marvel Cinematic Universe will see growth in their career in different ways and she will have grown as a character.
3. Hawkeye
Hawkeye takes place around Christmas time (my favorite time of the year) and follows Clint Barton and Kate Bishop as they take down the Tracksuit Mafia. Kate Bishop is probably one of my new favorite characters, but what made the character come to life was Hailee Steinfeld. Steinfeld was able to create Kate Bishop into “Worlds Greatest Archer” with her unique banter and ways to play around with a script and movement. There are two other characters who created this show into a new hemisphere, Maya Lopez (Echo) and Yelena Belova.
2. WandaVision
Our favorite Scarlett Witch started the 2021 Marvel year with a bang. WandaVision takes place a little time after Avengers: Endgame. The show is about Wanda going through the grief of her love for Vision who died during Avengers: Infinity War. The show takes place in the town of Westview where she created a sitcom-style life and starts MCU’s Phase 4 of content. My top 3 are very close in my rankings. But this show had everything included watching television through different Eras. New characters came about like Agatha Harkness (Who will be getting their own show). It had everything. We will of course be seeing Wanda in further shows and Movies like Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

1. Black Widow
Here we are! Number One Marvel Content of 2021. This origin/filler movie helps us understand what happens to Natasha Romanoff when she was just a kid and we get to learn how she became an assassin. This movie follows Natasha’s attempt to find her family where she learns that the Red Room is still active. In this film, we get to meet Natasha’s sister Yelena, played by Florence Pugh. (She plays a role in Hawkeye.) This is my number one favorite Marvel show or movie of 2021! The chemistry between Scarlett Johansson and Florence Pugh is amazing! This film had action, drama, hatred. Everything you need in a Marvel film!
