Alright, that might be a little extreme, but it was how I was feeling this morning when I was planning the dining reservations.
In 2022, a group of my friends and I are going to Disney World as a 10-year anniversary of our friendship (plus a friend of mine in Florida). We have been planning this since July and we have been putting together a list of restaurants we want to go to. I am going to break down some things that can help you plan for your dining reservation booking.
To begin, let’s discuss when you can plan your dining reservations. In one of my first blogs, I discuss the How-To Guide to Booking Your Trip. We are now in Step 6: Planning Other Reservations. Disney allows guests who are staying on property up to 60 Days to book their Dining Reservations. Once when the 60-day mark is up, you can book your reservations for your entire stay. However, if you are staying off property you are going to be booking every day individually instead of all at once. Now when it comes to starting your reservations, here is a list you need to know.
Your Party in Your My Disney Experience
If you are planning a trip with some friends, you would want to make sure you are all connected in the My Family & Friends Section of the website. (Also, you can check on My Disney Experience App) It is essential to do this when planning your hotel stay, planning park reservations…planning everything. Let’s say you are staying at an alternate hotel off property, you would also want to make sure your group Is on the My Family & Friends section.
List Out Your Options
When booking any reservations, it is always so important to plan out what you want to book. When my party has been planning our trip, we had three different docs shared between us: Outfits, Day-to-Day Plans, and Disney Reservations. Our day-to-day had stuff we want to do regarding rides we want to do. (I will have a blog later talking about Genie Plus) In our reservations, we had a top-tier list, middle-tier list, and safety list of restaurants we would want.
Connect a Credit or Debit Card
Alright, this is really important. Make sure you have a credit card connected to your My Disney Experience. When you are setting up your reservations, a screen is going to ask for a credit card. Connecting your credit card before your dining reservations will speed up your process so you won’t lose your reservations and you can connect your next reservation quicker.
Alarms
Again, another important part. The wake-up. Disney Dining Reservations open at 6 am every day. That is early. Make sure you have your coffee on hand when you plan. I had an extra 5 Alarms set to make sure I was awake (sometimes I hate mornings). I even had an alarm 5 minutes before and a 1-minute alarm. My photo explains the alarms. This way, I have my coffee ready, I am sitting down at my computer, and I am waiting to click that refresh button.
Its Go Time!
Once when your 6 am alarm goes off. Get start and gooooooo. Have your list ready either printed or on a second screen so you don’t have to flip flop between the two applications. For my 7-day trip, we were able to get 7/8 restaurant choices that were on our lists. I was shocked when I was able to get Chef Mickey’s. I literally screamed!
Dining Reservations will take a total of 15 minutes maybe 20 depending on how much you want to plan for your trip. And remember the rule of thumb…. prepare for a different road just in case.
What are some restaurants you want to try at Disney World?
